You ever notice, as you get older, things that used to just drive you nuts really don’t anymore? When I was a teenager, and probably even older I would have been bored out of my skull Sunday. We went straight from church to Allyson’s Uncle Bill’s in Dawsonville. The family was there; Ally’s sister Betsy and her family, us, Ally & Betsy’s parents, Bill & Joanne, their daughter Wanda, and a couple of other people. It was a Christmas gathering, one that we couldn’t stay at for long, because we had to get back to Jonesboro for the Frontline party. We swapped gifts. Simple gifts, like Wanda’s handmade Raggedy Ann dolls, Bill’s pocket calendar’s, some quilts to hand as decor, etc. Simple stuff. Not high tech or expensive, but given from the heart. I watched the giving, and had to smile. We sang songs around the piano as Ally’s Mom played. These are the things that would have sent me over the edge when I was young, but now make me smile. Yeah, that’s right. Nostalgia. It goes around this time of year.
Some pics from the day. First is Bill, who is 75 or 76, with his deer he shot last Friday. From his back deck. With 2 shots from his .22. From 35 yards or so. 12 points for those counting, and perfectly symmetrical.

His dog.

Ally’s Mom Carolyn, with Bill & Joanne.

And the rest of us. Hokey? Maybe. But I have got to say, I really loved it. Family rocks.
