My old friend Russ came down last Saturday with his wife and children. We did some good stuff, and that little Abigail was a joy to photograph. I hope to see a bunch more of all of them.
My friend Becky Johnson, from Tampa, had some great thoughts the other night. She has graciously allowed me to repeat them here. She sums up what a great privilege we photographers have been given.

From Becky…
“I felt the need to post this on my blog. I just wanted to share. I’ve had 2 Killians, so please forgive the sentimentality!
As I sit outside and enjoy a few beers, I watch the Westward breeze blow in a late Summer’s raincloud. It is dusk, so the only light is from the already set sun and the city’s amber glow. I start to ponder about the importance of what I do. About the gift that I had been given. How to tell a story with one second of life at a stop. One single moment, frozen.
I can keep you young.
I can make you live forever.
I can sway votes or opinions.
I can move entire countries into life altering decisions.
I can bring you monumentus amounts of joy.
I can make you cry.
I can alter a person’s way of thinking.
I can be the motivation or inspiration for one or one million minds.
Wow. What a great gift I have been given as a photographer. Use it wisely, use it willingly.”

It is a gift. And now it feels a bit heavier.
New Covenant is our HS student ensemble at FBCJ. They took a trip to Slovakia last month to share the gospel through song. These are some images from the trip. I didn’t get to go on this one, so these are from my daughter Sarah. She’s something else, and I’m about as proud of her as I can be.
