The Stallings Family, an old sofa, and a field…

I ran a contest this past week, kind of like the radio stations “9th caller” thing. The third person to comment on my Facebook page won a family session for today! Mandie Stallings had just left the studio from picking up her daughter MacKenzie’s 3 month images, and got home just in time to be the third person! We wanted to do something a little out of the norm, so we took my antique sofa to a field close by. It was threatening to storm at any time, but the rain held off just long enough to get some images. We also did some in the studio when we got back. I’ll post some of those tomorrow. For now, here’s a sample from the field…

The Patel Family

Mrs. Patel called me last week to see if I would be able to make a family portrait for her family. The last one was 10 years ago, when her 9 year old son wasn’t even born. Family came from South Carolina, Tennessee, and India, and met in Peachtree City. We made these images at their home. They wanted me to bring a background, and I did.

But there was this awesome red and white wall that made a great background for me. I love these colors.

This is the couple that started this family. They traveled from India to visit their children and grandchildren.

Their granddaughter has these awesome eyes, and I had to make one portrait of her that really shows them off.

Great time with a great family. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did!

Christmas Cards & Portraits

I will be running a special this week only for all you procrastinators out there. Sometimes putting things off gets a reward!

This week only, Monday 12/1 through Saturday 12/6, last minute Christmas card portraits including 100 cards and envelopes are only $150. This is a 10 minute studio session, indoor or outdoor, and you’ll need to have the wording for your card ready at the session. I will put together a simple design, and have it for your approval the next day. All cards will be delivered to you by the 13th, in time for mailing to your friends, family, or clients.

What about last minute family portraits or gifts for Christmas? Those orders must be in by the 10th for a Christmas delivery. Anything after that will get every effort but I don’t guarantee it in time. Portraits can be made the week of 12/1 through 12/6 for Christmas gifts. Call for availability.

Thanksgiving Day Stuff

We went to Tommy & Betsy’s for Thanksgiving. They have a nice (very nice) new home in Canton. Across the street is another house that allyson had been talking about, Lauren has said she wants it, Sarah said it’s very cool, so we had to go se it right? I hadn’t been up there and they wanted to show it to me. Well, as fate would have it, it’s under contract now, and the front door was locked. The back door wasn’t however, so we went for a tour. It is a very cool floorplan with multiple levels, private baths for each bedroom, nice elements in the details. It also has this great bank of windows, and I of course saw a place to shoot. So I did. Here’s some images of Lauren and her boyfriend Zach, Sarah, Megan, Savanna, and Marissa. Our family tried to do a Christmas Card pic too, but I’m not sure about it yet. Enjoy.

So what do you like?

Thanksgiving is coming!

Do you have…

Turkey or ham?
Stuffing or Dressing?
Pumpkin or Sweet Potato?
Are you North or South?

Seems like in the South we have Turkey, Dressing, and Sweet Potato more so than in the North. Of course we cook our vegetables down here too, until they are completely “hammered”. We don’t like our vegetables to crunch. Somebody said that in the North they don’t cook the vitamins out of their food. Well, as Mark Lowery said “For God’s sake, take a pill and cook the vegetables! That’s why God made One-A-Day’s.”

We’ll have Turkey. Not because it’s “Turkey Day” but because we like turkey! Ham is, well, just OK. and besides, Maw-maw made Turkey, so that the way we do it too!
We’ll have dressing cooked in a cast iron skillet. Because stuffing was started by someone that obviously just didn’t know how to make dressing.
And we’ll have Sweet Potato pie, although I don’t discriminate when it comes to pies. We’ll also have Sweet Potato Souffle’, because we southerners like a little dessert right on our dinner plates. There’ll also be that Blueberry “congealed salad” that my MIL makes. It’s really a dessert too, but we have it with the meal. That way we can have dessert later too, and not feel bad about it.

It’s still a few days away, but y’all (that’s right, I said “y’all”) start to think about the good things to be thankful for this year, even if you’re not in good times right now. The good things are there, and it’s worth finding them even if you have to look hard.
